MIGALABS began with a practical question: how can divers better protect the equipment they rely on from salt, fog and odour?
01 — OUR ORIGIN
The founders are scuba divers and underwater photographers who understood the effect saltwater can have on precision equipment.
After finding that existing maintenance options did not meet their expectations, MIGALABS began research and development in 2018 with experienced chemists. Over four years, prototype formulas were tested and refined into the DeSALT system.
The name MIGALABS draws inspiration from Migaloo, the rare albino humpback whale—a symbol of distinction reflected in the company’s focus on specialised marine-care products.
Development starts around the real maintenance challenges faced by divers and underwater photographers.
The Malaysian-based company begins building a dedicated range for marine equipment care.
The first products are introduced at the Malaysia International Dive Expo after evaluation within the dive community.
The system expands from salt and fog care into neoprene cleaning and odour removal.
MIGALABS products are supported by distributors, dive centres, retailers and resorts in multiple countries.
02 — WHAT GUIDES US
Every product begins with a specific maintenance problem experienced around the ocean.
Research, development, manufacturing, packaging and labelling are centred in Malaysia.
The range prioritises performance alongside non-toxic, non-hazardous, alcohol-free or biodegradable properties where applicable.
Clear formats and practical instructions help divers, photographers, anglers and boat users maintain their equipment.
03 — DEVELOPMENT & QUALITY
MIGALABS states that its research and development is local and that certification testing is conducted through international agencies for environmental, efficiency and quality-control requirements.
Before launch, early DeSALT and DeFOG products were provided to experienced scuba divers and underwater photographers for evaluation and practical feedback.
